The Volunteer Friendly Award

We involve volunteers because they are motivated, have fun helping and tell us it lets them give something back to the community. Volunteers are crucial to Brae.

More Start-up Sessions for Volunteer Friendly!

06 August 2010

Building on the success of the session in Dundee on 15 June, another start-up session took place in Edinburgh on 22 July, with staff from centres in Midlothian, East Lothian, Edinburgh and East Renfrewshire taking part.  This session went well despite the lack of internet access, which made it difficult for everyone to try you the website.

Bookings are now being taken for sessions in Ardrossan and Glasgow and we hope to announce a session in Highland or Aberdeenshire soon.

Welcome to Volunteer Friendly!

20 June 2010

The Volunteer Friendly Award designed and used by the Volunteer Centre Dundee has been acknowledged as a successful model for recognising organisations that are good at working with volunteers.  The programme has been selected as a Change Champions project and has received funding to be rolled out to the rest of Scotland through SCVO’s Supporting Voluntary Action programme, which is funded by the Big Lottery.

Using that funding, Hilary George and Pat Cosgrove have now joined the team at Volunteer Centre Dundee in order to coordinate the rollout of the Award across Scotland.  Hilary is Project Coordinator and Pat is Project Administrator.  Their first job has been to organise the setting up of this brand new website to support the development of the award.

First Start-up Session organised in Dundee

20 June 2010

The Volunteer Friendly Scotland team, Hilary George and Pat Cosgrove, have been working with Volunteer Centre Dundee staff members Philippa Lyttle and Anne Leslie, who have delivered the Volunteer Friendly award in Dundee with great success.  As a result the first start-up session has now been organised for staff from other Volunteer Centres.  On 15 June 2010 workers from the Volunteer Centres in Angus, Fife, Perth and Stirling came along to Number Ten to hear all about it and to try out the fledgling website.  Representatives from groups which have successfully completed the Volunteer Friendly Award in Dundee were also invited along to join in the session.
